Sustainable and Renewable Fuel and Electrolysis Cell Energy Device Technology
The SureTech project aims to support renewable energy that will provide a source for a sustainable and environmentally friendly future energy in the Philippines. Theoretically, SOEC is just the reversed operation for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) wherein the cathode of the SOEC becomes the anode in an SOFC operation. However, they are fabricated separately and used for a specific mode of operation, either as for energy generation or as for hydrogen production. Such technology can be basically operated reversibly to provide both needs of energy and storage. Hence, in this proposed SOEC project, the fabricated SOEC will be tested in the reversed mode to generate electricity, thereby having a dual mode stand-alone green energy system. Thus, in this project, SOFC/SOEC system that can work reversibly at an intermediate temperature range in contrast to its typical high-temperature operation. Lowering the operating temperature is greatly advantageous for the long-term performance as well as increasing the energy efficiency of this promising technology that can support for a clean and sustainable energy.
